First Riverview exists to influence others
to become thriving followers of Christ.

We derive this purpose from the Great Commission given by Jesus just before His ascension:
"'And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'" (Matthew 28:18-20).

We see it this way:
Our primary purpose is to glorify God.
We glorify God best by making disciples of all peoples.
We make disciples by leading people to a saving faith in Christ, scripturally baptizing them, and teaching them to become thriving followers of Christ.

What we value...

Relevant Bible Teaching

We value communication that connects to our culture without compromising the timeless truth of God's message.

Authentic Worship

We value acknowledgement of God's supreme worth through worship. We seek to live that out daily in our full devotion to Christ and as we gather weekly for corporate worship.

Lifestyle Evangelism

We value a passionate commitment to lead people to faith in Christ through natural communication, transparent relationships and compassionate service.

Fervent Prayer

We value prayer as the power source behind everything that happens in and through this church.

Faithful Stewardship

We value faithful stewardship of the resources God entrusts to us as followers of Christ, which includes tithing to support the mission and ministry of the church and generosity toward the needs of others.

Community

We value the transforming power of healthy relationships and want to help people experience God's design in strong families and authentic small groups.

Grace-Filled Culture

We value our salvation that has been received by the grace of God, not by our self-effort, and that shapes our acceptance and interaction with others.

Strategic Ministry

We value ministry that helps us accomplish our overall church mission. As gifted members of the body of Christ, each believer is responsible for exercising his or her gifts in tandem with other members of the body. It is not enough to exercise spiritual gifts. Maximum impact is contingent upon a coordinated, strategic exercise of gifts in the body.
